Back in 2020, our founder, Ethan Rosenstiel, was full of ideas. Even as an eighth grader, Ethan was constantly thinking of new business ventures and dreaming about building something meaningful. After hearing “no” to many of his ideas from his parents, understandably so, Ethan believed the one idea they might support was a charitable event. Although they were initially hesitant, Ethan was determined to move forward with the idea anyway.
At the time, Ethan was heavily involved in hockey, which inspired the idea of organizing a charity hockey game. His parents encouraged him to involve others if he was serious about making it happen, so Ethan gathered a group of friends to help plan the event.
The group adopted the mission of “Kids Helping Kids” and selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green County as the beneficiary of their first Charity Hockey Game. With incredible support from local businesses and the hockey community, the event was a tremendous success, raising more than $6,000 for the organization. Inspired by the impact they were able to make together, the group decided to continue the effort the following year under a new name: Move It Forward.
Fast forward to today, and Move It Forward continues to grow stronger each year and is officially a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our mission has evolved into “Inspire the Next Generation,” reflecting our belief in investing in the future of our community by empowering young people to pursue their goals and make a positive impact. Our two flagship events, the Charity Hockey Game and Summer Series, have remained at the heart of our organization since the beginning. In 2025, we proudly launched our Scholarship Fund to help graduating students pursue higher education, skilled trades, and other opportunities as they chase their dreams.
The story of Move It Forward would not be possible without the unwavering support of our local community. More than half of the proceeds raised throughout our history have come from the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and families. Beyond financial support, our community consistently shows up to attend events, volunteer, and participate in our mission.
We are incredibly grateful for the support, encouragement, and belief our community has shown in Move It Forward and the mission we strive to achieve every day.
Thank you for helping us inspire the next generation.
